Vlado Perlemuter 1904-2002

디아파종 상 등을 수상하며 LP시절부터 라벨과 교팽 스페셜리스트로 견줄 수 없는 확고한 명성을 얻고 있는 페를뮈테르. 그의 농익은 타건에서 흐르는 음률에는 지나친 낭만이나 감정의 표출은 없다. 도도하게 흐르는 강물처럼 절제와 유연함이 가장 완벽한 조화를 이룬 기품과 절제의 미학이 귀를 사로 잡는다.

Vlado Perlemuter was a great Chopin player. The Ballades may not be his greatest Chopin recordings, but they are great nonetheless. You can go to Artur Rubinstein for more powerful climaxes--and you should, since no one pianist can tell you everything about a great piece of music. Then come back to Perlemuter for his almost vocal expression, his exquisite nuances, the way he makes a phrase so poignantly effective. The two Polonaises, recorded later, are surprisingly stronger in technique. Follow Perlemuter through the meanderings of the Polonaise- Fantaisie and hear the way he guides you through a meaningful experience. This isn't a perfect recording but it's a treasure. --Leslie Gerber
